Would like to hear what people would think of for a Greatest hits type of cd for Metallica. You have to pull from at least six cd's not including S&M and must include a Load/Reload ahem moment.
Include a reason if you like but most of all dont regret your choice for it will be carved in stone (or html or something i forget)
10 songs should cover it i think but if you cant squeeze them in go for a max 12.
Liking something is subjective so if you dont like others choices - you can fuck off.
Ok here is mine
1. Whiplash (with vocals from today) - ie live shit binge and purge til now
2. Bad Seed (for some reason love it - think its something to do with the cunning stunts vid)
3. Cyanide - Suicide I've already died - oh fuck yeah
4. Wherever I may roam. say no more
5. My World - "who's in charge of my head today" - as per cyanide
6. Seek and Destroy - again in todays vocals
7. Creeping Death - Gotta be one of the best ever
8. Leper Messiah
9. Master of Puppets - Fisrt song I ever heard of 'Tallica
10. Harvester of Sorrow - "drink up, shoot in, let the beatings begin" plus james dedicated this song to the crowd in Brisbane Australia when i got to see them live.

I hate greatest hits cd's and box sets.
They are so useless.
Just a money trap.
I predict that they will never release one of either.

I'd say one thing: if Metallica had made a commercial greatest hits album (not a limited edition like the box set), than I would never have been a big fan I think. The reason I became a big fan, is that there was no collection album, so i had to buy all the albums to have the greatest songs...and so learning to know all the other great songs.
I don't think they'll ever make a greatest hits as long as they are together in a band.

The four horsemen

Enter sandman

Seek and destroy
pretty much covers everything although Id swap Cyanide for All Nightmare Long

Good to see some thought goinig into some of the posts.
I also hope they dont bring out a best of - that would be fucked. As someone said a little earlier - buying all the albums and knowing all the songs is half the fun. I've mixed a few cd's for the car and mp3 player and stuff but never really settled on one format - i guess most of you are right - you cant just have it at 10 or 12 songs, moods and situations change and songs will always inadvertantley go up and down the list.
Thanks

I put together an mp3 disc with all their studio albums on one disc. That way, if some asshole ever breaks into my car, they'll only get copies of cds. That, and of course, the convenience!
