I woudn't be too surprised if the original stems are distorted too, since, as has been pointed out previously, it was recorded on a potato in a moving vehicle.

:teehee:

I wouldn't trust Fidelman and Rubin to mix a salad, let alone an album.

They should have done a recall instead of screwing the fans that wanted a decent sounding production. I don't like the fact that they act like we don't know what we are talking about. Acting like the production was fine. They should just admit the record company probably did not want to recall because it would cost too much.

I bet they will re-release DM someday with a remix and master and probably include some extra songs.

much like Metallica's reaction to Lulu initially when they were proud of it at first and when everyone panned it, they finally agreed that yes it was horrible. I think in about 5 years James will admit that there was a sound problem on DM that could've been avoided, but it was an artistic decision at the time and seemed like a good idea... luckily the fans did a better job of mixing than Rick Rubin ever could, so "thank you to all the fans' hard work in mixing our CD!"

I will join you in a way next time Metallica puts out a record I will DL it and if it sounds anywhere like DM I'm done. I'm sorry I can support a band who allowed something like this to happen.

Exactly my thoughts!
