However as far as Megadeth, United Abominations in my opinion was very dull in writing but the production was pretty good. I would rather have DM by a mile as is. UA was a huge disappointment to me after the catchy The System Has Failed.Haha! You're so right. They have always been kicking metallicas ass. I know Dave wouldnt ever release a defective cd. He cares to much about his life work to tolerate that shit.

They're not acknowledging the issue because they know it would be very damaging for them. This should be obvious to even the most dim-witted individual.
this.
it's disappointing i know. but i do understand that if they backpedal and speak about the issue, it's going to be a PR disaster so better to remain quiet, take the shots, and improve on the next record (hopefully).

I will join you in a way next time Metallica puts out a record I will DL it and if it sounds anywhere like DM I'm done. I'm sorry I can support a band who allowed something like this to happen.Well, with that fucking attitude I'm never going to buy any future Metallica album.

Sadily that is 100% how I feel sometimes with Metallica anymore.
Glad i'm not the only one feeling this way. I have found some brothers in arms it seems.

Now that's a good-sounding CD right there.. Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms.
I don't know about the reissue, but look for a download.
You have to turn it up a little, but it sounds really freakin' good.

what's with these quaint old recordings that expect you to have a volume control...
BTW, Brothers in Arms sounds spectacular in surround - it's so immersive

I don't get this constant complaining about sound quality. I listened to DM and yeah, sure, there were some static. So what though. I don't know, maybe I'm just old. You people ever listened to this ancient audio format called cassettes? You want to talk about static, clipping, or whatever you want to call it?
My fist Metallica album I ever bought was the Black Album on cassette when I was like 10 years ols... and let me tell you... it sounds smoking.

Personally, I don't enjoy the crappy mixing either, but I respect their tastes and opinions. I imagine myself in their positions...personally, I wouldn't stand for crappy mixing, but to them...maybe they do in fact enjoy it.

I would actually rather listen to some old cassettes rather than the retail Death Magnetic...My fist Metallica album I ever bought was the Black Album on cassette when I was like 10 years ols... and let me tell you... it sounds smoking.

Secondly, this is really sad. I was extremely annoyed by Lars' comments, but I don't really expect anything else from him anyways. James, however, is one of my rock heroes. I have a lot of respect for the guy. I've also met him, and he was really cool. I hope those quotes aren't true; they sound so ignorant, and even rude. To call 16,000 fans "retarded" (who uses that word anymore, anyway?). I had hoped James would have a little more integrity here, especially since he's obviously gone through a lot over the last few years, and is obviously very proud of his new album (and so are we, besides the shitty sound). It's hard to believe that they care that little about the sound quality, or the fans, when we give them so much of our money. You'd think they'd at least be a little less harsh with their statements.

FIRST AND FOREMOST, is there any proof that James actually said this? Link? Someone? Anyone???

Agree. I can't imagine the word "retarded" coming from his mouth in this situation. Lars perhaps, but not James.

Hmmm. That's what I thought to myself at the thought of an industry released album sounding like it was being blasted out of a mono tape deck with a blown speaker.

Well, the petition to get it remixed was/is retarded. The one to end the loudness war -- not so much. Granted, I think online petitions in general are stupid, but at least the loudness war one is attempting to

The most important thing is that the creator of this music enjoys it. Thats all that matters.
It is conveinient just to say he likes it cause it saves himself money to remix/recall the piece of crap we were all suckered into buying.
Mark my words we wil be suckered into buying it again if it is fixed.
They only care about $$$ now !!

And how exactly will you be suckered into buying it again? Do you think Metallica fairies are gonna sneak into your house at night and sprinkle TallicaDust in your eyes and when you awake you'll be forced to buy the album again? No. They are not gonna remix it, so get your head out of your ass.It is conveinient just to say he likes it cause it saves himself money to remix/recall the piece of crap we were all suckered into buying.

Besides, what evidence do you have that supports your "They only care about $$$ now !!" statement? I'll tell you what evidence you have...None! Have they ever remixed an album before due to complaints about the sound? No! Did they change a single thing about St.Anger, even after tons of complaints about the snare drum, and even them admitting to it being a failed experiment? No, they didn't. What makes you think they will this time, especially for something that has far less complaints than St.Anger's snare sound.
I'll tell ya what, get your head out of your ass, grow up, and maybe than we'll talk. Idiots like you make me sick. You complain, and whine about how a band only cares about money, but you never back your statement up.

They're too proud of it at the moment to see the flaws. It pretty much closes any chances of any future re-release. Fortunatelly there are GH3 mixes which are an official remix by the way since Metallica profits from GH3 downloads :)

We have to wait at least another 2 successful records until they'd start talking about it, and the truth will surface. My guess is that the production on the next record would be pretty awesome. My advice: Get Andy Sneap to sit behind the mix table.
