My gut feeling tells me the next metallica album will have a better production; Lulu being a stepping stone to achieve a better sound.

Regardless of what people are saying, Lulu actually had class sound. And then people need to consider the way it was recorded; with lots of mic leakage and short time span. Haven't heard Metallica that heavy in a long time. Makes me excited for the new album, and hopefully Lulu inspired them to do something slightly more conceptual than Death Magnetic.

I would say otherwise. Just about damn near everyone owns a computer these days. 10 years ago, internet comments wouldn't matter so much. Now, everyone uses the internet. Children, the elderly, teenagers, people in their 30s and the middle-aged. Everyone and his mother is on Facebook now. Also consider the fact that steps are being taken as we speak to eliminate the CD and move to digital only sales in the music business, which should happen in the next 3 or 4 years.

Internet comments do matter now. A lot more than you think they do.

What you're talking about has absolutely nothing to do with the actual sound and production of the album. Lulu is a better produced, and more listenable album in that regard.

If only I could remember the link to the article speaking of how they have Rick Rubin on board for the next album, plus that Lars is well aware of the extent of the brickwalling issue, and didnt realize at first how widespread opinion was.

If the above from that article (again, wish I could remember the link) is in fact true, then we can only hope.

I have no doubt that the Rubin sound is good for Metallica though. Who else remembers that mystery producer/Andy Sneap rumored mix of BB&S?

The mix sucks on some of the songs, The View in particular. Lou's vocal doesn't blend with the music at all, which is quite an achievement, since they were all in the same room...

The four songs are brick walled, but there's none of the distortion that was on the DM retail CD.

is that the remixed BBS that was floating around after DM came out? I have the "remixed" version of BBS and it sounds amazing (like HD vs non-HD) but nobody ever revealed who did the work to it. Or did they?
