Why do the boys in black tour Europe every year? While us in North America get a toor like once every 5 years? I understand they have big festivals over there but these guys should be touring the home turf a little more often.
WHY DO THEY TOUR EUROPE MORE THEN N.A.

It's true. The only time they tour the U.S. is for an album. They only did 2 Big 4 shows. That's pathetic. They could have done easily at least 10 and hit up every major area in the U.S. but no, instead we get 2 shows while they've done about 10+ shows over in Europe. Even for Death Magnetic they toured Europe and other places way more than they did the U.S. I don't get it. Ever since 2006 they hold tons of special shows over in Europe every summer and constantly screw us over. How about a Summer Sanitarium? They haven't done that since 2003. Now they're going to do The Black Album but no surprise it's only going to be in Europe. Whatever.

Europe has a better attitude towards rock and metal than the USA. Simple.

1. The festival are massive over there.
2. Metal/Rock is bigger there.
3. It's a yearly trip to Europe for them and their families.

i have to agree with almost every post here,
better crowds (ok south america hast the best ones but europe >> america)
the huge festivals
they like spending the summer days here
its lars` "home"
rock and heavy music is very common in europe.

In this thread, America becomes aware of an existing outside world.

Agreed, but they more than made up for it towards the end of the World Magnetic Tour.

I may have heard wrong but on the radio the DJ mentioned that they were playing the Black Album in full in Europe and then went on to say that they were coming here in the fall...

In my opinion they want to celebrate their 30th aniversary coinciding with Fredy Mercury on London. Probably, they join with other musicians to play it.

Larger Venues with more confirmed attendance.
More ppl, more tshirt sales.
And who wouldn't want to play the stack in front of tens of thousands of ppl - so far that you can't see the end:)

Blah blah blah. Canada supports Metallica just as much as any other country and they tour here about once every decade. Kinda shitty.

Totally untrue.
They were here this summer TWICE...on the east coast for a change.
Halifax will never be the same.

I've been to both and even though I'm American, the European shows are way cooler. Not saying it's fair one way or the other, it is what it is. Rock Am Ring 03 was pretty badass. You don't have to count on Metallica to supply the support acts either. Festivals always pack in better bands. Beats the shit out of the Summer Sanitarium 03 line up.
