If the band is looking to sound more diverse, I guess it's working. But diversity for the sake of diversity doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna be a winning formula.
I LOVE Mike Patton, but I don't buy EVERYTHING he releases. For starters, he puts out so much that I'd just about be broke to buy it all. Secondly, the musical tangents he goes off on automatically means I won't necessarily LIKE everything, even if I appreciate what he is going for.

That link should have been kept private. Now Metallica's representatives know about that link, those clips will probably be pulled.
Gone.

It's not like they can stop a website from posting those samples on their own server, outside of the US, unless they have some kind of pull with the site owner.
True, although if anyone could get those clips removed, it would be Metallica's management. I've been around here long enough to see some pretty crazy shit happen.
As for the songs:
I've been listening to these clips all night and my assessment is that it sounds like Metallica was in their garage practicing new songs and one of the band member's grandfathers woke up from all of the noise, went downstairs and started yelling at them.

My fiance and I were both saying that it sounded like a kick-ass Metallica song with a drunken man babbling over it.

Web watchers today may have noticed that one of our friends in the digital retail world jumped the gun a little by posting samples of all the tracks on "Lulu," so rather than have you checking out transcoded clips, we’ve posted higher quality streams of the same bits here for your previewing pleasure.

Lou Reed is such a fucking hack. The moderately interesting music is completely destroyed by his aimless bantering and lack of any timing or music feel.
Can we just fast forward to the new Metallica album please?
new metallica album? That's gonna take a while man, a few more years from now. They decided to work on this project so that's what we got.
We can't judge the album yet with 30 sec samples. Perhaps the songs have good music. I don't mean to disrespect Mr. Reed but this guy cannot sing , it doesn't sound right. Haven't heard the whole thing but I have a feeling that there's some good music there so I guess it would be nice if Jaymz could re-record the vocals but I guess it's too late for that

Metallica sounds good tho. Definitely. Lars seems to sound cool on Mistress dread. Riffs are good, as far as I can tell.
It doesn't matter to me if this album is good or bad.
Also...am I the only one who thought it sounded like Lou was auto-tuned in Dragon when he says "Hallucination"?

Well if he was, it didn't helpI wanna hear it...but Idk if I can get used to Lou's vocals...I actually think I will like the second disk more...Lou's vox probably fit it better.

I was thinking that, too.Lou sounds even worse now that the clips are clearer.
Lou really kills these clips. I wish he would have had James sing everything. Haha. However, Lou's voice is perfect for Little Dog (the 30 seconds that we heard).
