I didn't ask for ideas, but someone asked if they can make suggestions and I said sure.

Right now I'm editing the guitars so they're evened out, and then I'm going to make them sound like METALLICA guitars again.

As for intent, I'm not going to make it sound like the retail. I'm going into this as if I were the one doing the album. I'm sure I'll use reverb. I'm sure I'll make the songs fuller. Not going for "better". I'm going for "different".

I'll post an example later, which will in no way be indicative of how the finished thing will sound, but will give an example on the many different things I can now do.

Just my two cents, but we need more of the quote below, and less of "do this please."

IMO, when someone is doing something for you that you truly want/desire, you don't then tell him what to do.

I may have missed it, but I don't remember Moderus ASKING for ideas.

Based on his pedigree, he knows full well what to do.

Thanks man. I appreciate the nod. I think some just don't get that eventhough Mod said to give suggestions, that won't take them into consideration. He'll do it whatever way he feels is best to bring the album to its fullest potential. All I want is for it to sound the best that it ever could. Clan, clear and and roaring. Thats all, an I totally trust in Moderus and whoever else is going to work on it with him, to do just that.

Ok, so, here's a little something. I made this to see if I can get the kick drums sounding more like kicks. I played around with other stuff, some I'm kinda happy with, some I'm not. I sorta leveled stuff. Like I said, playing around with stuff and taking notes of what I like and what I don't.

This sound is great. I'm no audiophile either, but what I'm hearing feels more... open, separated, distinct. Retail feels more mashed together, block-like.

And yeah, the download is just stopping around 1.2 megs (I'm able to listen to 37 seconds in VLC)... I think there's some sorta problem.

Yeh,i only got 37 secs. worth,must be something wrong with the host.Like the sound,nice and crisp and clear.

You need to let the sample fully load because the host is quite slow.
It might take 20 minutes but it will be worth it

Well, it will be interesting to hear it.

One of the problems I have with all of the previous edits is that the stems weren't totally accurate to the final cut and so I would kind of cringe at the differences in the songs. Sure, they sounded better but I usually wouldn't listen to them over the clipping album versions (at least in my car, where I can't hear the clipping much anyway).

Impressive dynamics, great separation and soundstage. I can tell the stems are much better. During the solos it's like James is all around me, and Kirk is in the spotlight. Sweet!

Yep, the soundstage is much wider on this one and sounds good, but I think the bass is too low in the mix. Towards the beginning I actually thought it's not there at all...significantly less heavy than it could/should be. Guitars and drums sound great, though.
