I have another unmentioned moment, right before End of the Line's solo where the drums stop and Kirk plays some fucked up note, sort of announcing the solo in a way. I thought that was a really cool touch. The following onslaught of notes is a total love it/hate it affair, but the way they lead up to it is great.

http://www.youtube.c...eci0o9c#t=4m37s

The whole song blew me away, but this part in particular was just

And this http://www.youtube.c...Y8S6jVc#t=5m21s is amazing. Every time I listen to it I feel like James is telling me I'll never write a riff as good as this one..

Yeah, damn good. I was even more impressed when I learned to play, it's constructed pretty uniquely for a Metallica riff.

Line's vocals and lyrics
All of Nightmare, especially the second half of the solo
Cyanide: the vocals
The Unforgiven III: build to the solo
Judas: 6:05
Suicide: James' solo
Apocalypse: "Mangled flesh, snapping spine, dripping bloody valentine" to the end

The first wow experience I had was as King Laffo said, the mission metallica vid of Rob playing bass to Kirk's
MA riff... I was like

Also, if anyone remember when they pre DM released an audio klip of 10 seconds of every song. When that AWESOME riff
in BB&S came up... That was the coolest thing I had ever heard...

I still get a hard on everytime that section comes in... Just fits perfectly

Agree with nearly all of the epic moments already listed, and here are a few more for me:

That Was Just Your Life – The slow, building intro…followed by the onslaught of drum blasts, heavy guitar riffs, and snarling vocals…and later the wicked, fresh-sounding guitar solo…80’s Metallica is back

Broken, Beat, & Scarred – “What don’t kill ya, make ya more strong”

The Day That Never Comes – there’s no better word than "epic" to describe this whole song

All Nightmare Long - “…and you crawl out again, but your luck runs out”

Cyanide - will always be special for me because it was the first song I heard on DM, just before the official DM release, as part of their performance at Ozzfest in Dallas on 8/9/2008

That Was Just Your Life as a whole.
The fast hammer-on riff on The Day That Never Comes
The main riff to Cyanide
The fact that there is an Unforgiven III
The chorus to The Judas Kiss
The very beginning of the My Apocalypse solo

Don't know about "epic moments", but the guitar harmony in 'Life' was the moment that I thought to myself that Metallica was back to where they were known for the most part.

The drumming at the very end of the Day That Ever Comes.
Cyanide the entire song - (it was more the anticipation from Ozzfest)
Piano piece intro for UN3, no horns!
The cool intro that they added for My Apocalypse when they played in Copenhagen - I incorporated it between S&R and MA on my MP3, and it definitely adds a new dimension to the song

James' scream of "why can't I forgive me" over the first note of the Unforgiven III solo. But to be honest I think the whole song is pretty epic, the bridge and the afore mentioned part especially.

My epic moment would be... popping the CD in and hearing the Heartbeat in Life, thought it was pretty cool, then once the main riff started it kicked me right in the face. It was fucking awesome! And it's still one of my favourite Metallica songs ever.

Ill just pick one moment. The riff in Nightmare after the first solo that was mentioned before. Sounds very evil, very unique progression.

the riff from "all nightmare long" at 5:20 is the only thing that made me think this is badass!...i was also very into the first couple minutes of "the day that never comes", "suicide and redemtion" has some cool riffs too, everything other than that was very "solid" and "rockin" to me

LOVE IS A 4 LETTER WORD!!! ... just kidding

I still don't get why people actually LIKE this album. They brought in Rick Ruben, he wanted them to 'capture the essence' of the old material and work with it. Sorry, it doesn't work that way. It didn't work. I heard 'All Nightmare Long' for the first time when the album came out and thought the song was going to be decent because of the intro bass line but instead of it being EPIC, it was an EPIC FAIL. It COULD have been as good as For Whom the Bell Tolls but it fell very short.

Unfortunately, there wasn't an epic moment on Magnetic. Thus, this is a trick question.

When I listened to the first song, That Was Just Your Life.

It was all slow and when the distorted guitars started kicking in I remember thinking "Oh god is this what I think it is?".

And then the main riff kicked in.

A huge smile grew on my face.

So great.

What's wrong with the intro?
best part of the song
