Back in the day... seek & destroy was the first song I heard from metallica. I was a fan instantly.

Seems like For Whom the Bell Tolls was the first Metallica song to get stuck in my head. I must have been about five at the time. 16 whole years ago.

I remember hearing For Whom The Bell Tolls on the radio a lot when I was younger. I liked it, but it wasn't until around St. Anger when I started listening to them as a fan.

I felt older! My attention was attracted by RTL album, but my addiction came when the MOP came out.

I had a part-time job in '93 or so fixing household equipment and one guy used the black album as a test-cd when he was repairing cd-players, I was 14 and had never heard of metallica really but fell in love with nothing else matters from that moment.
Then at school, a guy hears me listening to NEM (on repeat) on my discman (yes I'm really old:) and plugs in his earplugs in my ear and starts the four horseman..I was baffled..that was the coolest thing I've ever heard..I was hooked from the starting riff..
Then he let me listen to master of puppets and I think I was almost drooling by the end of that song..
Two weeks later I bought myself a guitar and a shitty amp and started a metallica cover band with some friends:)

Youngster. Hell by looking this over I say that most people here are young. Then at school, a guy hears me listening to NEM (on repeat) on my discman (yes I'm really old:)
First time I heard them was "camping" out in a tent in my friends back yard around 87. We were about 8 and he had his tape player and his cousins MOP tape. I am pretty sure the first song we played was the title track. Have not looked back since.

I had heard Enter Sandman before, but from the moment I heard that tremolo picking kick in in All Nightmare Long, I knew I'd be a Thrash Junkie forever.

The music video for One I never knew who or what Metallica was, or what even metal music sounded like (I thought it was all crazy cookie monster vocals singing about the devil) and than my best friend showed me the music video I was like OH MY GOD!!!! This is amazing since than I've became a fan. (since 2006)

Wherever I May Roam. 8-1-92
it was my friend's 14th B-day. a debate broke out among his friends as to which band was better - Metallica or GnR. I was not familiar with Metallica at the time (I was 12), but i had just bought Use Your Illusion II so i naturally voted for GnR out of my ignorance of metallica.
to prove a point one of the guys pulled out the black album and blasted Roam.
changed my life forever. been a die hard fan ever since.

Fuel was the first song I remember hearing of theirs and absolutely loving. Didn't get obsessively into them until more recently, though.

Well, I heard I disappear when I was like 8 on the MI:2 soundtrack, & that's what got me interested in heavy music in general, but I didn't actually get into the band until I heard Justice. That was what started it all.
