Load or Death Magnetic

I was wondering if the older fans (30+) appreciate Death Magnetic for what it is.
I know alot (not all) of younger fans like the Load stuff & do not appreciate DM.
I want to know how older fans feel.
Post your age & let us know which you like better & explain why.

I'm 31 years old, and in my opinion DM is a huge improvement from the last 18 years or so.
Why? Because the music's better, quite simply. And more metal!

i prefer dm a 1000 times ! can't give you an exact declaration. i'm not that kind of guy who cuts every song in pieces and analyses it bit by bit. but i can only tell you what i like more.
dm sounds way better! more powerful and more aggressiv......arrrrrr just...
if the boys are still touring 10 years in the future, i bet TWJYL will be on the set-list!

My feeling about these albums relates to the sense they give to me, and DM gives much more pain to me!

I like the old stuff and i do like the new stuff as well.
I was totally stunned when they put out LOAD and RELOAD.
Both are great albums and i couldnīt understand peoble who hated them.
Ok, LOAD is not (Thrash)Metal anymore...but who cares ?
What is wrong about a band that develops ? Image you play in a band and have to do the same stuff over
and over again for 20 years...for a musician thats boring.
Even St. Anger is a good record.
The two major issues i have to complain about is that the sound is annoying after a while and
the songs are too long.
I would buy St. Anger a second time if they would record it again
with the sound of Death Magnetic and shorten all songs to the nitty-gritty.
Death Magnetic imho is an absolute killer album.
Here is my personal Metallica ranking:
1. Kill em All, Master Of Puppets, Justice For All, Black Album, Load, Reload, Death Magnetic
2. Ride The Lightning
3. St. Anger (as mentioned just because of the sound and song length issues... i like the songs)

It's rare on these boards lately.
I'm 38 & I personally love the new shit along with the first 4 releases.
I thought Metallica took it to another level with TBA, just not my style,
and the Loads just were not for me. But I really appreciate Death Magnetic.

I'm actually enjoying looking at what everyone is writting "WITHOUT BASHING SOMEONE ELSE'S OPINION"

You're opinion is WRONG SIR!!!
I'll take Load over DM. Not that DM is a crappy album or anything. Its just missing something for me. I don't know what it is. I still say if any other band besides Metallica would have put out Load, it would have been hailed as a masterpiece.

I'm 29.
I prefer Load and Reload.
+1
for me DM sounds like a band trying hard to be something they were many many years ago. this in fact was the mission statement for the creation of the album. some people praise Rubin's tactic of playing them their old albums to get them back to that mind set, i for 1 don't.
metallica continually changed from album to album, originally i detested the Loads, but then it clicked, i didnt have to stay in my metal "click" anymore i could enjoy other styles of music and as such the joy of the Loads became self evident.
so sum it up, hetfield once sang "going back instead of forwards seems to me absurd", well that is what i think they did here with DM
