Here's a unique one for you guys...

Never liked Metallica in th e 80's.

Liked TBA.

LOVED Load.

Liked Reload.

Hated St. Anger.

DM? Best CD of my life, no kidding. Yet, the 80's Metallica does little for me.

To me, DM represents what a band can be.

By the way, I'm 38. I also found the poster here who said he was 29, I think and has loved Metallica since MOP. That would be '86. He was 6. I don't know whether to laugh or applaud!

DEATH MAGNETIC

mmmm Johnny doesnt look 30 does he. More like 14 or 15. But thanks for the
Death Magnetic  comment anyway.

:horns:

I'm 35, Turd and ReTurd don't have shit on classic Metallica or Death Magnetic. Hell, give me St. Shitty before the LOADS of shit.

:horns:

18, Load + ReLoad.

Spoken like a true 18 year old.

I am 18...been a fan since I could remember listening to AJFA on cassette. I prefer DM over Load....its not that i dont like Load, I like the songs on DM better. I do love the solos on Load though. Real Bluesy. Both are very good albums it just depends on what your taste in music is.

25 and DM is the last album on the list for me. Hate the guitar sound and the album sounds like what it is, a riff tape.

Opinions can be wrong.

I think the person you're quoting was goofing around though.

I'm 39 and the Loads never really kicked my ass like most Met does, but I don't hate em'. I prefer DM.

I am 44 years old and have been listening to Metallica since "Ride the Lightning." I love every Metallica album for different reasons. I remember the first time I heard RTL and really enjoyed it, but for me there has rarely been a listening experience like the first time I put the needle on "Master of Puppets." The sonic whiplash was incredible. My favorite is still "..And Justice For All," for the intensity and all around greatness of the musicianship. Having said all that, I have absolutely worn "Death Magnetic" out. It will be probably end up as my favorite before too long and I especially love hearing it live. For some reason my favorite ones to listen to on long driving trips are "Load" and "Reload."

I've been a fan of Metallica since 1985 & have been following them since.

I was wondering if the older fans (30+) appreciate Death Magnetic for what it is.

I know alot (not all) of younger fans like the Load stuff & do not appreciate DM.

I want to know how older fans feel.

Post your age & let us know which you like better & explain why.

I am 34 and I hated everything after Justice!!! But I Love Death Magnetic. I think the boys are back on track Thank God!!!!

I am 34 and I hated everything after Justice!!! But I Love Death Magnetic. I think the boys are back on track Thank God!!!!

I must add the reason I hated the other albums:
#1. Not nearly as brutal as RTL or MOP or AJFA.
#2. James' vox not metal enough for me.
#3. No shredding solos, only wah-wah bluesy shit.
#4. No instrumentals.
#5. Where is the angst and aggression?
#6. Lyrically nowhere near previous albums.
#7. The early albums played like symphonies the later ones were like albums full of radio singles.
#8. Bob Rock (need I say more)
#9. The Black Album, Load, Reload, and St. Anger just weren't as classy for me (just a personal opinion)

It seems that the band finally gets it and with Death Magnetic they put back all of the stuff that was missing from the stuff I listed above. GOOD JOB METALLICA!!!!!

DM for me. i am 31 and have been a fan since the black album.

not really a big fan of there albums after the black album but love the new one.

as a band though they had to make those albums to get where they are today with DM, much more aggressive.

so it must be a good thing that they made them.

I was totally stunned when they put out LOAD and RELOAD.
Both are great albums and i couldnīt understand peoble who hated them.
Ok, LOAD is not (Thrash)Metal anymore...but who cares ?
What is wrong about a band that develops ? Image you play in a band and have to do the same stuff over
and over again for 20 years...for a musician thats boring.

So just because it was the right thing to do for them (Load and Reload) we have to like em? If you can't imagine why people didn't/don't like the Loads you are pretty much a retard. The music is different in soooo many ways! If you like the loads, fine, no problem, but you gotta acknowledge that they are very different than Metallica's previous work.

If I am to be completely honest I think that Metallica didn't really develop at all. They just tried out new stuff. I mean, is DM like the loads or St.Anger? No. Its much more like Justice and Puppets (not as good though). Lars, Rob and Kirk didn't really want UN3 on the record, they would rather have Shine there. And UN3 id really the only link to the Loads. The first one in 10 years +. They don't really like to play Loads songs live either (yes they do occasionally play Until it sleeps, devil's dance, fuel, and some more). Imo the Loads were a step in the WRONG direction when talking about development.

I'm 35. I have not problem with TBA,Loads and even St.Anger. I had some great and some bad momenst with those records. Didn't liked TBA from the first time, but I was excited how popular this record was and how Metallica turned to giants from underground with him. When Load and ReLoad came out I spend some time before I started to like them. With St.Anger I spend more time ;) But I think this record have some great moments on it. Loved DM from the first time.

I'm 16, prefer DM, not too keen on load and reload as a whole, but i dont mind some of the songs like: King Nothing, Mama Said, The Unforgiven II now and again.
DMs got more power to it than the loads do for me, love the chorus in All Nightmare Long for it.
But MOP, AJFA and RTL are definetly up top of the list for me.

Ok, I'll start.

I'm 31 years old, and in my opinion DM is a huge improvement from the last 18 years or so.
Why? Because the music's better, quite simply. And more metal!

Got to agree, DM is way better than Load. It appeals to the thrashier side of my soul. :hb:
I am 45 BTW.
