I’m certainly sympathetic to your reaction, I get to slam my head against that brick wall every day. In this case the mixes were already brick walled before they arrived at my place. Suffice it to say I would never be pushed to overdrive things as far as they are here. Believe me I’m not proud to be associated with this one, and we can only hope that some good will come from this in some form of backlash against volume above all else.

Hopefully we can put the mastering petition to rest.

Why?

It's a re-mix/re-master petition. In light of this, I may just change it to a re-release petition

Remixing takes a lot of time. I seriously doubt they're gonna bother and most likely it would require some re-recording.

This suggests to me that the vinyl will probably sound like crap as well.

Well if that's a genuine response (I'm not doubting you, but this is the intertubes :P ) Then that at least shuts up all the "there's nothing wrong with it" crowd.

Case closed.

now we just have to hope something is done about it , though i very much doubt it will.

The guy who mastered the album.

I really don't see how (if this e-mail is genuine) it puts anything to rest. On the contrary, the guy himself uses the word "backlash".

Backlashes do NOT involve just shuting up and talking about Kirk's solos.

It puts to rest the "OMG WB DESTROYED METALIKAS ALBUM :((((((" James and Lars accepted it that way, end of case.

I guess since it's not Jensen's fault, then i suppose you ought to now write to Greg Fidelman....

Could someone ask Ted Jensen why he was forced to master the damn thing so loud?
Fucking record deserves more than that.

Well, the one thing is does put to rest is the fact that there is a problem, however much some people ignorantly refuse to believe it. but apart from that.....

That pretty much ends the hope that the vinyl is better.

I'm not sure you understood his reply, he couldn't do anything about it. It was recorded and mixed that way thus the main mix bus was like that. It was James/Lars/Greg's decision.

It's not that I don't believe it , it's just I don't play my music at high volumes to hear it.

Did you even read the email?

It was already mixed loud. He didn't cause the problem.
